Work Experience

Adjunct Faculty
January 2023 - Present

Assisted students in the process of understanding introductory concepts of Algebra

Guided students during one-on-one meetings during office hours.

Planed and organized lectures and review games to facilitate the acquisition and retention of key concepts.

R&D Technitian
February 2022 - January 2024

Assisted and provided advice to engineers involving the processing of remanufactured cartridges.

Sugar Bench Chemist
December 2020 - April 2021

Tested factory samples from the sugar side of of the sugar beet manufacturing process to ensure the proper operation of the facility

Operated in a high stress and fast-paced environmnet by processing aroung 20 samples per hour to ensure that managers had real-time data on the state of the factory.

Planed and organized lectures and review games to facilitate the acquisition and retention of key concepts.

Math and Physics Tutor
Fall 2019 - Winter 2020

Here, I helped students with their math and physics coursework. Generally what I would do is wait in the SVSU tutoring center while all the tutees would work on their studies until they had some sort of question. They would then signal one of the tutors over at which point we would sit and help them work through their issue. This experience made me more comfortable communicating ideas with other people as I had to both listen to understand what their current thought process was (in order to identify the source of the confusion) and then had to communicate to them the material in a way that made it easier to understand.

Mathematics Department Work Study / Saginaw Valley State University
Fall 2019 - Winter 2020

My responsibilities involved sitting in the SVSU Mathematics department and helping the professors there with anything they wanted me to help with. This very often involved printing, copying and scanning materials, sorting and stapling tests, counting out and delivering exams for the larger lower level math classes, and formatting text and images. Unfortunately, my time here ended in the first third of the Winter 2020 semester due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Math and Physics Tutor / Delta Community College
Spring 2016 - Spring 2017

The way that the Delta College tutoring center worked is almost identical to the way the SVSU tutoring center worked. As such, the responsibilities included were pretty much identical.

Education

Fall 2017 - Winter 2020
Bachelor of Science
Physics and Mathematics
Unofficial Transcripts

Saginaw Valley saw the completion of my Bachelor's degree. I majored in Physics and eventually decided to add Mathematics. As part of my Physics degree requirements, I participated in some guided research under Dr. Matthew Vannette focused on building a pulse tube refrigerator. During the later half of my studies here, I was involved in the SVSU Physics club and also participated in COMAP 2020, a math modeling competition.

Fall 2014 - Spring 2017
Associates Degree
Unofficial Transcripts

At Delta, I explored a wide array of academic subjects including Music, Political Science, History, English, Spanish, Math, Chemistry, and Communications. This helped cement my love of Math and Physics. I also completed an Interpersonal Communications Skills certificate that delta offered following the completion of four communication courses.

2009 - 2014
High School Diploma

During my time at Hemlock High school I gained an interest in the fields of Science and Mathematics.

I took up a number of extracurriculars. I played Saxophone in the High School band and participated on the tennis team for three years.I also participated in three of the School Theater's productions, playing the lead in "Oklahoma".

LaTeX

LaTeX is a WYSIWYM document preparation system. Its setup makes it convenient to write mathematical symbols, cite sources, and place images.

I have used LaTeX to make lab reports for physics and to type out assignments for my Math Classes

is an example of a document with lots of maths I made using this.

If you want an example that is more writing heavy, click here

Octave

Octave is a free and open source alternative to MatLab

I learned how to use Octave in my Numerical Analysis class. The most complicated function I've made on it probably was one involving Markov chains for my Applied stochastic processes class

Microsoft Office

You cant get through high school let alone college without knowing Microsoft Office. I've been using word to make final reports and documents (which I might add I take great care to make presentable). I've used excel to organize and calculate data, or just make an organized table. The computer class I took during the COVID-19 crisis made great use of Microsoft Teams. Ive been doing slide show presentations with Microsoft Power Point since High School; and my SVSU email is hosted on Microsoft Outlook.

Guitar

I've been trying to teach myself guitar on and off for the past year or so. I can play chords (except the F chord) and finger pick a few songs.

Java

I took an introduction To Computer Programming class during the Winter 2020 semester at SVSU. We learned on Java. I know the basics of loops and functions. The last thing we covered was 2D arrays. The process seemed to come very easily to me so I expect learning more won't be too much trouble if need be.

Web Design

Most of what I know comes from W3School. I learned HTML and CSS from them. I also used one of their templates to make this website. I feel like I can make a website look the way I want, but do not have the designer's eye to make it look good. That is why this website looks almost exactly like the template from W3School

Mathematics

I've studies mathematics at Saginaw Valley State University. Courses include Abstract Algebra, Abstract Geometry, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Statistics, Applied Stochastic Processes, Numerical Analysis, and Number Theory. I participated in COMAP 2020. I also tutored college students in Mathematics for a combined 5 semesters.
×

Physics

I've studied Physics at Saginaw Valley State University. Courses include Quantum Mechanics, Physical Optics, Modern Optics and Holography, Theoretical Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Mathematical Methods, and two Lab Courses.

I tutored college students in Physics for a combined 5 semesters.

My research was on thermo-acoustic refrigerators where I attempted to build one out of PVC pipe, a speaker, and a roll of film. The greatest temperature difference observed was 0.1℃.
